The Department of Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry is one of the oldest teaching and research departments established in the Agricultural College Mahanandi, Kurnool District in 1992 to undertake teaching and research Programme in Acharya N.G.Ranga Agricultural University (ANGRAU). The department is well equipped with two laboratories for effectively and timely conducting U.G and P.G practical classes. Strengthened practical laboratories with latest equipments viz., pH meter, E.C meter, Spectro photometer, Double distillation Unit, Eletronic balance, Flame photo meter, Nitrogen dual distillation set to address the emerging frontier areas of soil research.

Objective:


The main objective of soil science division is to carry out teaching and research on the fundamental and applied aspects of the physical, chemical and biological properties of soil; fertilizers and manures and their interaction with soil and plant; improvement and maintenance of soil fertility for sustained optimum agricultural production; soil test crop response correlation studies; advice to the farmers on soil test-based fertilizer recommendations. Since its existence, it has made outstanding contributions both of theoretical and practical value in many fields extending over the various aspects of soil science and agricultural chemistry. .
